| PP here. Just received my biopsy results- positive for CE and on 14 days of doxy. But my RE says CE isn't really a cause of infertility or recurrent miscarriage (my problem being the latter). Literally everything on the internet says otherwise, so I'm a bit confused. Has anyone else's Dr said something similar? I'm considering a second opinion as this is the last of a long battery of tests and the only thing they've found. |
| I know an odd question, but do u drink alcohol. I had severe endometriosis, years of meds and surgeries. No hope of conceiving and then I stopped all alcohol. Strangely cleared it all up. And now have two kids. To date, when I have too much gluten, my body hurts and seem to be more susceptible to illness. |
My RE at GW is a straight shooter and not overly optimistic. She said it can have an impact but isn't a magic bullet. It can cause implantation failure and early losses, so yes, it has an impact on fertility. I do think there are many, many fertile women who conceive and carry never knowing they have endometritis. But for us in the infertility world, sometimes it can mean that one conception in 24 months doesn't implant successfully or your FET fails. So absolutely important to treat. |
EndometriOSIS or endometriTIS? Endometritis is inflammation, usually caused by infection but sometimes caused by other things. I could see how alcohol or gluten could cause inflammation, but not sure if it would be enough to meet diagnostic criteria for endometritis without being massive full body inflammation (then your uterus would probably be low on the priority list). |
| OP here. Repeat biopsy came back positive still, though improved. So on a second and higher dose of cipro and flagyl, this time for both of us. If that doesn’t works, the next step is a infectious disease specialist. It feels ridiculous that I’m the 1% for ANOTHER darn infertility issue, but the more I think about it, the more I suspect this was the cause for some of our losses and we may actually have a chance if we can ever get this cleared up. |
| Good luck to you OP, so sorry it’s not gone yet. Fingers crossed! Now that I had it I have heard about others too- more than I ever had before. It is as noted hard to tell his big a factor it has been in my failed IVF’s- and think likely not sole issue. However I’ve been all unexplained secondary infertility... |
