Agree that it's a non-story, but also would note that the reason why it's so hard for us to deal with this virus is that the tests are not very good. The child could have contracted it outside of the center or inside the center. Negative test results after the fact for people who never showed symptoms don't mean much. They could have been briefly contagious and resolved and the tests just didn't time properly, and even at the perfect time there is a nontrivial false negative rate. |
I’m a parent with a child enrolled at the center. Petit Scholars was taking every possible precaution, including those listed before — pick-up/ drop-off outside, absolutely no one bit staff and children inside, parents taking temps of all family members before arrival at the center AND staff raking child temps upon entry, strict hand washing schedules, masks on age three and up, small pods, no mixing of pods, no community meals, deep cleaning daily... It was inevitable and agree it is a non-story. There will be more centers affected, and if schools were to reopen, there will be cases there as well. We closed for two weeks and reopen Monday. |
Did a whole "pod" get coronavirus? Or just six families in the "pod" who were "affected" because they had to quarantine? Or was that random reporter just wrong? |
PP with the location. 2 weeks. |
So basically sounds like one person got infected from the community and they are having to temporarily shut down to prevent a spread? Sounds like a bunch of media hype... |
This happened at my nephews daycare (Not around here) and they are now wondering if it was a false positive. Kid only had a runny nose and no one else at the center or in the family tested positive. |
The entire center, not just the classroom? |
Penn Quarter Kindercare just reported a case in their infant "pod." Unclear whether it was a child or teacher. The entire center will be closed for two weeks. This surprises me not at all considering how lax that facility ordinarily is about hygiene, health, and safety. |
My friend’s whole family just contracted covid and they are almost certain it was from daycare as parents work from home and they’ve been cautious (except for sending to daycare). I have no idea if it’s the same one. |
One of the State Dept daycares just had three staff members test positive a week ago. |
yes they close the entire center when there's a case |
