And the parents could have been carrying it for thirty years. |
The toddler is much more likely to be the asymptomatic/minimal symptom one. If kid isn't at school and no one around them has anything it's possible but not likely to be covid. |
| He got the COVID somewhere OP. Have him tested. |
| Roseola , UTI, ear infection, strep...probably not covid, if you’ve been following social distancing guidelines well. |
If they were following social distancing guidelines well, wouldn’t roseola and strep also be unlikely? |
No. Strep is bacterial and could be from his home environment. Roseola, as discussed, was clearly from the parents as it can lie dormant for decades and just be shed by them. |
Roseola is an HSV type that can be dormant and shed asymptomatically, so kids can get it from their parents or siblings. |
strep can also be carried asymptomatically and then flare up. |
Sounds like roseola. High fever was the only symptom. Worried me sick. Takes about three days to clear then a mild rash appears on the trunk. |
| Mine had a fever, followed by a cold for one day. We were told it was probably just a virus, things are still going around, and kid was better the next day. The pediatrician said we didn't need to get him tested. |
My older kid is one of those that rarely has strep symptoms but gives it to other people, I forget what it's called. But someone in your household could be like that. |
|
Had two friends recently go through this with their kids. (Different families)
1 kid had a severe ear infection. Other kid had roseola. |
| Call the doctor or urgent care. |
| OP here, thanks all. Emailed doctor and she says it is probably Roseola. says to give him fever reducer and only go to ER if fever is not going down. Fever went down a bit, so we will see tomorrow. |
