Are Garden Apartments Back in Style?

I don't think it's because they went out of style so much as because developers stopped building them in favor of highrises. You can make more money packing more apartments or condos on the same land so that's what they did.

My Garden apt from the 1970s is one two blocks from beach and one block from bay. It sits on one acre and only has 30 units. I love it. But in 2020 you could plop a 30 story condo on top and pretty much every unit from third floor up would have an ocean or bay view.

It is now surrounded by million dollar properties. But it still exists. But surprised not more popular but not at all that sales are going up Covid. Much safer than a high rise

Which is more desirable high rise or garden apartment given the same age and location.
Example , near a beach?

^^Hard to say. Ask a real estate agent and hope they don't give you a self-serving answer.

We're staying in a garden apartment during renovations and am surprised by how much I like it! Love having my little patio, which makes me much less nervous to hang with our toddler on as opposed to a balcony.

Its in a 4-story building, with the 5th floor housing amenities.

Agreed. I much preferred garden style over high rise. I wouldn't live in a garden style in the middle of a high-crime neighborhood, but outside of that it's very nice.

Low monthly fees. Dues are kept low as there is no elevator to maintain and insurance costs are lower

I’ve loved my garden style condo In Arlington for the past 8 years. I have a dog, so easy in and out for walks. I can’t imagine doing the extra time up and down an elevator everyday for potty breaks. We have ample parking and lowish condo fees, for a very good location. Getting ready to put it on the market in the next couple weeks since we purchased a townhome, but if I would have never gotten married and needed more space, I don’t think I would have felt the need to move.
