For club and coaches, it is about survival, and they are very willing to return the work as long as the rules allow. In fact, lots of them are already doing so under 90 degree weather with a mask.

Really? You mean the coaches are wearing masks, not the players, right?

We will see about the income when those state and local taxes dry up and voters look at the behavior of the unions during this pandemic, pressing even to limit remote learning tutorial obligations. An utter disgrace.

People, MD has a positivity rate that is less than 5%. We are testing so liberally that MoCo is actually going to homes to test people who haven't asked for testing. Our hospitalization is at ~33% of capacity. Daily deaths are at the single to low teens. The only concerning trend is infections of people under 35 but he attributes that to those not taking the situation seriously, i.e young people at bars or other social gatherings. The issue is people not being responsible and club soccer is not the culprit for the spread.

My niece is doing her residency at Johns Hopkins. She texted last night to say every bed in the ICU is full and every bed on their Covid ward is also full.

There was supposed to be an ID camp there next week and it was moved to Virginia because MOCO wouldn’t allow the fields to be used.

Go to the state COVID page then come tell me that I am wrong. ICU beds are at 33% capacity compared to SC which is T 80%.

This does not track with the rest of MD hospitals. I work in 2 hospitals , one who was one of the busiest in moco with covid pts and our numbers are stable and low for all of july.

I don’t know the numbers but I read yesterday that cases increased much more in or near the Baltimore area compared to the rest of Maryland. This might be the reason why Hopkins is full while hospitals in other areas are not.

What do you think the likelihood of the Discovery Cup tournaments at MD Soccerplex in mid October?

There is no chance of soccer games or tournament in Moco. If you have followed decision making of Elrich, he has unrealistic expectation of getting case to near zero before further reopening. While people are tired of the lockdown life and start to go out a lot, that is impossible to achieve.

I just hope we can still have practices this fall.

everyone talking about the CURRENT numbers arent watching what is occurring in most other states around the country- its all cyclical.

Chicken Little, please stop. AZ, TX and FL and other states are in completely different situations than the DMV. We have minor areas of spreading, mostly among young people who are ignoring protocols. Leaders are dealing with this issue by closing bars. MD’s positivity rate below 4.5% and new cases are not leading to a significant increase in hospitalizations which means the new cases are not severe. We still have close to 70% of ICU beds avaiilable. The hotspots have that figure and higher occupied. There is no surge. Stop the nonsense.

Again, the leaders in DC, MD and VA have done a good job at keeping things tight. We did not rush to re-open. We followed the CDC re-opening guidelines and have been testing non-stop. There is literally no serious comparison between this area and the current hotspots. TX was hosting youth soccer tournaments while we were still in lockdown. Governor in MD is mandating mask and VA Governor is shutting down bars in the tidewater to deal with specific risk but the general situation is improving.
