If you are doing a pod/nanny, will your caregiver wear a mask?

We have had a nanny for years and of couse not. However we have largly ignored all social distancing rules since May. We have survived somehow

Our nanny doesn’t wear a mask if just with us. She has worked with us for years and we trust her to be safe outside of work and we do the same. Plus, We have a 1yo, so it wouldn’t work. Baby would probably grab all the masks and chew on them within the first hour. I probably wouldn’t do a pod without having everyone wear masks though.

Unfortunately, the aftermath of Covid isn’t just death (which for most is very unlikely) or a return to former health. Seems to be a significant number of people with lasting effects/damage. Another 6 months or so of masks and distance seems worth it to avoid that. Annoying, for sure, but since we can work remotely, it’s not hard. I get that it can be much harder for some.

this thread is full of entitled people who really need to understand basic science and infectious disease epidemiology. you can't know 100% if people are "doing all the precautions". it just takes one exposure to break the bubble.

Are you interested in teaching, by chance?

We have my parents caregivers wear masks. My parents do not wear masks but they have dementia. It would confuse them, but sometimes I think maybe they should. My parents do not leave the house. Their only exposure is their caregivers. So if the caregivers don’t give my parents covid, then the caregivers can’t catch anything from my parents.

This is 100% for show. Don’t even bother.

Precisely. Meaningless Pandemic Theatre.

You are in denial if you think we only have 6 more months of this..

Our teacher will not be masked. We are comfortable with this and not really concerned about Covid impacting our extremely healthy family

Op here. Healthy kids in Florida are dying. I will be dropping off. So the question is whether I ask the kids and caregiver to mask in someone else’s house.

Strange comment. NP here and my DH tested positive and I slept in the bed with him. Nobody else in our house had symptoms nor did we bother to get tested.

The only reason he even got tested is because he is a doctor working at the hospital and it is mandatory.

People are not going to the ICU, or even the hospital who don't have major underlying conditions. He has seen a few people under 65 who have been very ill and those were morbidly obese people with severe heart complications. One patient tipped the scales at over 450lbs and did pass.

We don’t. Have had nanny for 5 years. She works only for us and we both WFH, never socialize without masks and don’t ever visit stores or restaurants. Nanny camps for vacation and only rarely shops for food and does so with a mask. Because of all those precautions and the fact that it is just our two houselholds we effectively bubble together and avoid masks.

“ People are not going to the ICU, or even the hospital who don't have major underlying conditions.”

My god you are naive and it’s scary to think your husband is a doctor. This statement is patently false.
