Sick of Schools saying we need DL only. See study info to prove we are going the wrong thing.

Is it worth it for kids to be on DL the whole year? How about the kids who did not even bother in the spring or don’t have the resources.

The problem with this is that you are comparing the US to the countries listed in the article. The flaw is that those countries did the hard work to get the virus contained. We didn't do that here.

Seriously. Why don’t people understand that?

Illiteracy?
Denial?
Continued belief that the usa is the best and will crush it?
Lack of interest in reading data or anything below a headline?

Maybe fighting to have schools back in session misses the scary fact that the products of the american education we are fighting about are, actually, not so bright.

Keep in mind that this study is only talking about primary schools with young children. I think an argument can be made for opening K-5 in person. Maybe even have them 5 days a week spread across all campuses, with small pods and no mingling.

But the data for middle school and high school don’t look good.

I think this is the right compromise to be evaluating. Getting K-5 back captures much of the economic benefit since it’s easier for parents of older kids to either leave them home or work with them in the house. Still need to watch the data come in from around the world but it’s where the conversation should be.

We can't even wear masks, dear OP. Let alone have a stable country. It sucks, but it is what it is. Many European countries closed schools prior to the coronavirus for the flu. Extended the winter breaks by a month in some countries. We are stupid and lazy to help ourselves, hence this outrage is misplaced. There are no real studies showing anything is safe. Just drive by the beer farm on 108, there are over 100 cars there every weekend. Why should teachers lose their lives, because people can't live without drinking beer in large company?

If your kid is a known trouble maker, I suggest cameras. Smelling the basement every single night, etc...But, even if the kid is having parties, smoking weed and drinking all day long, what are you going to do in the end? Kick them out in a pandemic? But, at least you will know you snowflake is not an angel you thought he/she was. Some hard talks will be had, and that might help your teen.

Agree on all points. We are here because we don't have the proper education to understand how to minimize the pandemic. Lack of education is why we are here, and yet outrage is that schools are needed to educated the kids? As if it makes any difference on the end?! People are so uneducated that they think electing a leader is a joke and anyone would do. On dcum, that is supposed to have more educated audience we have people showing data that serves their purpose. Not having school in person sucks, it also saves lives.
