Make sure your child (not you) starts emailing coaches at the beginning of junior year. Google NCAA official and unofficial visits. Good luck. Ask more of you want. Most earlier answers here were snarky or terrible

We’re you full pay? Cuz cynics say this is just a back doorstep for those who can pay.

Not everyone is a cheat. Your question is nuts.

Asking if PP’s kid is full pay is not asking if s/he cheated. You are a 🥜 nut case.

It may be a recognition that rowing 🚣‍♀️ is like badminton 🏸 or ping pong 🏓 Not sure if these are true sports, like football, baseball, basketball.

Lol. I’m 5’11” at the time about 135 and was begged every time I walked past their table at the student union to join. Never did.

Ironically I now have an erg in my basement I use daily.

Op, there’s a really good website on this I will try to find for you.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Have you ever watched rowing? The idea that it isn't a "true" sport is ludicrous. Rowers are in crazy good shape and have to be strong as well as coordinated.

what does it mean to be a “preferred walk on” for crew? does it guaranty admission?

Ask the coach - that's going to depend on the school. I can't imagine it's going to "guarantee admission" but it might give your kid a little bump.

It’s a hard sport.

The AD at my kids’ HS said the largest percentage of unclaimed college sports scholarships is for women’s crew. If your daughter is being recruited, there is likely $ to be had.

If you didn't get hurt in high school crew, you will in college. Few finish their careers without injury and not many non revenue athletes compete for their 4 or 5 years.
