Awe, little boys are so much fun! Congratulations!! Boys tend to worship their moms, too, so just think about the amazing bond you two will have! I bet your DD will enjoy taking care of the new baby and having big sister responsibilities.
We are an affectionate family and I regularly catch my kids hugging each other, snuggling up on the sofa together, or holding hands. They play together all of the time and get along well usually. They are still young and sometimes get into arguments, but they are great friends. They're 2 1/2 years apart. |
Siblings without Rivalry is another good book to read to foster a strong relationship between your children. |
OP, kids late twenties/nearing 30, 3 3/4 yrs apart. Older girl, younger boy. They fly across country to visit each other. They call and ask each other advice re: careers, apartments, life. I think in some ways their relationship falls between friend and parents. I think the most important/serious things they discuss with each other. It's good. |
OP here. These stories are making me so happy! I’m so glad to see so many of your kids are good friends. I was initially worried that DD would miss out on something by not having a sister but this is helping to put my mind at ease. Thank you!! |
I grew up with a brother and a sister and I am close to both. Please don't project on your children. Help them develop bonds but, don't make sexist judgments. brothers and sisters can be close! |
I have a 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son. I had the same slight sadness when we learned our second was a boy, but my kids absolutely adore each other. They’re now at the stage where they actually play with each other (it happened just in time for quarantine, thank goodness!) and it has been just so incredibly delightful to see how much fun they have together and how much they love each other. |
I have a 9 yo DD and a 6 yo DS (they are 3.5 years apart). They are so close. They are giggling over something together right now. DS idolizes his older sister -- whatever she does is the best, whatever she likes he likes. She in turn is so good to him. When he gets upset, she's the one who can calm him down. They absolutely support each other which is great most of the time, except when they gang up together against me. ![]() I really lucked out. |
I have a 6 y/o boy and 2 girls, ages 1.5 and 2.5. The 6 year old boy and 2.5 girl get along great and she wants to be just like him. However, the two girls fight ALL DAMN DAY. I hope this is just a phase! |
I have a 6.5G, 4.5G, and 2.5B. They love to play together. The girls love to teach their little brother things and help him. He sometimes finds their help annoying, but more often he enjoys it and he learns a lot from them. They read to him and teach him about soccer and how to steer his trycicle and how to build Legos. It's very cute. |
My DS and DD are 6.5 years apart and are very close. |
