Any actual insight about how DL will be better this time around?

Even if it's hybrid they need to plan for full DL.

DCPS is adapting the entire year's worth of curriculum into digital content that will accessed through Microsoft Office. Get ready to use OneNote for everything.

Great.....and I will have to adapt it again. The things DCPS uses is so dry and boring! I teach K kiddos and they needed lots of motivation, stimulation, and just more through DL.

Oh well, perhaps it's better than nothing. Did I fall asleep when they announced this?

I personally know people working on adapting the curriculum. It is essentially an impossible task. They are doing their best and working insane hours, but in reality this is the type of thing that should take several years- not several weeks. Teachers will use the curriculum as their base. As usual, some will enhance the curriculum, others will ignore it, and others will just use it as is. I am sure there will be challenges with it- no one working on it believes it is perfect. They are all concerned about the challenges facing them, the teachers, the schools, the kids, the families.

I'm another DCPS teacher, and I'm grateful for the work they are doing. Even if I have to do a lot to adapt it, it will be easier than starting from scratch!

There will be attendance requirements and district-wide time requirements for virtual learning. It seemed very School/teacher dependent in the spring. There will probably still be some disparities, but I think it will be more consistent across grade levels throughout the district.

I’m with you, OP. My early Elementary kid’s teacher was great and pivoted quickly, but we got ONE live short meeting per week, and 20-30 minutes of prerecorded instruction which resulted in 10-15 minutes of work. So basically we were done with school by 9:30am. I don’t underestimate how much is takes to put together the content we got, but this simply can’t be the case for another full year.
