Is your student headed to college in a COVID hotspot state?

Are they still planning to return to school?

With over 32,000 covid deaths in NY state I would consider that more "out of control state" then SC with 984 or TX with 3322 or FL with 4409

What? How does the fact that there were a ton of cases in NY several months ago have anything to do with whether it is out of control now? There are very few cases, hospitalizations and/or deaths in NY right now.

Focus on the evidence, not hot air.

My 19 year old is staying right here working full time, maybe he will take an on-line class or two. No rush, he has his own timeline, which is fine by us.

The prior poster clearly does not understand the dynamics of infectious disease outbreaks.

It is about the shape of the curve. A sharp SPIKE = very bad

My niece is starting UArizona in the fall. All but 2 classes have gone to online format, and 2 are hybrd. She has a couple labs, I believe, which is the biggest factor in going vs. staying home.

She is going to live in Arizona right now?

That seems ... unwise.

going to hot spot as sophomore with own bedroom in a house, would not do it in a dorm

I think almost any college town may become a hot spot after the students from all over the country reassemble.

Rented our DD an apartment in Evanston IL. Feeling pretty panicked about the whole thing as she has asthma.

Clemson does not appear right now to have a clear plan of when they are going back.

Clemson does not appear right now to have a clear plan of when they are going back or what they are doing.

There may well be nothing to to back to by this time next month.

To do what? Sit at home with Mommy and Daddy? What a waste. Everyone else will be passing a year of online or in person college. There is nothing to do during a gap year but be depressed.
