Dance Studio recommendations?

PP here. Am a former dancer who lives in the area. My child doesn’t even dance so I have no stake in any of these schools.

City Dance is run by Lorraine. She used trained at WSB when Mary Day was still teaching. Lorraine taught modern at WSB. She has also managed to secure some pretty hefty donors who used to be at WB. Seems to be attracting the serious students unhappy at WSB and MYB. Appears to have a ballet focused, but not necessarily ballet centric program.

Also might want to consider CityDance Pop in Tenley in looking for one or two fun dance classes a week. Teeny, tiny studio but great teachers. Seen a couple of the good teachers from JOM turn up here.

Joy of Motion. Great place to take class for fun. Horrible training since all the good teachers left. Financial disaster and in the verge of closing.

This is a really good balanced assessment. Thank you for posting this. I do hope twsb turns around again, but that would require a different leadership. It used to be a great school.

There is a very real difference in the quality of dance schools here. CityDance and BCoD are at the top. Joy of Motion too if they reopen. The rest is dance moms stuff or utter nonsense.

BCoD is more relaxed than competitive. Their dancers seem happy, though.

CityDance Pop in Tenley also has a "core" competition group that works well for kids who are strong dancers and want something a bit more advanced/serious but want to have time for other extracurriculars and don't have any professional aspirations -- it's a great fit for my DD.
