Wow, these are cool. Has anyone tried them? Seem like a great idea all around.

Did you see that they are single use only? That will be expensive fast at $70 for 24 masks. A teacher will use a box a month.

I think about this as well

It is a valid concern from a language acquisition standpoint. Ask your center to use clear masks, at least for part of the day.

OP, there are also reusable masks with the clear panel.

Sorry for the very ugly long link.

I am a preschool teacher and I hope we will be getting some of these or similar, because yes, young children need to see our faces both for seeing our mouths produce words, and for seeing our facial expressions as they learn about feelings and communication.

I worry about this, too, although I think kids will adapt fine. For the very young infants, it might be more of an issue, but hopefully they will be with parents who are not wearing masks so they also get that experience for long periods as well.

Babies can become withdrawn and depressed if they can’t bond with the facial expressions of their caregivers. I don’t understand how daycare and preschools are going to operate with caregivers wearing masks.
I’m depressed about this as a mom of a 3 month and 2 year old relying on these centers. I may need to take a sabbatical.

Please look into ppd since you have a 2 month old. Masks are not this big of a deal. If you truly want/can take a sabbatical, the do. Do not make it about masks.

Ridiculous. Because OP has a concern about masks she must have PPD? No. OP, it's a valid concern and I don't have the answers.

Ditto. The clear masks someone posted above sound like a good solution.

I own and operate 🌿PalisadeI own and operate Palisades Montessori infant and toddler program & preschool program. We are experimenting with the use of clear masks. They work very well, are safe if you buy the right ones, and really help with the social and emotional components!

They'll learn eventually.
