We just got our notice that our Fed daycare is reopening June 29. We will pay tuition to hold our spot, but no plans to use in the near future. Will probably wait for older children to return to school. |
Ours is also opening July 6 and will start charging full tuition. We have only had to pay 10% the past two months. We will likely pay tuition for July but not send our toddlers back yet. Will re-evaluate for August. COVID numbers in DC look pretty decent and if they continue on the downward trend, I think we would be comfortable. DH and I are lucky and grateful we’ve both been able to WFH and while it is stressful with two young kids, it’s been doable, so another month of it shouldn’t be that bad. |

We are going back July 6th for camp. I feel comfortable with it and DS is so excited! |
We just got notice that our fed daycare is reopening and they are cutting enrollment by 50% thru a straight lottery. Are others doinf this? They provided no additional information. |
We signed to hold a spot but wont send right away (throwing $ away but we need a spot for the fall) |
Ours opened in mid-June at 75% capacity with temp checks and a reduced schedule (and no cross-classroom mingling). No regrets, no complaints. Daycare kids are unlikely spreaders and we needed the childcare. |
For those of you with open daycare, are the children sharing classroom materials? |
Yes there is toy sharing and children play together in groups. |
Ouch. |
Ours did first come, first serve. It was over 50% though as we are in MD. All the returning families I know who applied got in, even those who submitted late. I think a lot of rising kindergarteners are not returning, and there are a number of parents who are choosing to keep their kids out. So stuff like that might soften the blow a bit. Also is your fed daycare downtown? For agencies continuing to telework, I can see the location just not really working right now for those who typically commute from elsewhere. |
