The other 80% that play the game but don't have the pro potential Pay to play Just like the herds of kids here. The difference is here soccer is a 2nd or 3rd tier sport. In Europe it is the top sport by far. The player pool is so much bigger than here.

Actually I hate to break it to YOU.

I played from U12 to U18 in two professional teams (youth system). Not a dime was ever spent by my parent. EVER.

You are the type of person who spews outright toxic misinformation and then gets off to it.

What a buffoon!

Yup. The top 20% gets free round the clock soccer training but if they can’t keep up or develop as expected, they get kicked out. Very stressful for these boys. The ones that make it, they get sold/traded just like cattle.

I guess you were good enough to play for free . Just not good enough to play for a paycheck.

Most youth pay to play and then they grow up and get full time jobs outside of soccer just like here

Pay-to-play in Europe is on par with our rec programs in terms of cost. You pay about 200 euros per year or less. However, they get better quality coaching than the coaching that most our travel programs offer here.

I am not talking about pro academies, which are free. If you are playing for a local non-professional club, however, you pay a small amomt for membership, which includes uniforms, fields, swimming pool, coaching, etc. If you are good enough, you can move to a pro academy, which is free and they will even pick you up from school. But the majority of players play for local non-professional clubs. But unlike this country, pay-to-play does not cost you an arm and a leg.

All sports here are pay-to-play. And actually soccer is cheaper than some of the others.

And most MLS programs are free, juts DC United is an exception.

Try volleyball or some other sports and see what really pay-to-play is. Soccer is super cheap comparatively.

Soccer popularity could see a bump here in the US, with the NFL taking political blows left and right.

why NFL has so much drama, because it is much more diverse?

Just need names. No paragraphs or emotional rants.

Pretty please!

OP, I haven't heard of any who are not asking for at least a deposit. Even a lot of the clubs who have announced that they are Play-to-Pay will have charged $700-800 before September.
