Are you taking your kids to routine dental cleanings now?

My daughter was 3 months overdue and has been having vague tooth pain. We went last week. All staff were wearing masks and gloves. We were the only patient/parent there. Only one adult allowed per child. Did not even see anyone else in the building halls/elevator. Glad we went.

Been to ortho. Will go to dentists this summer.

Yes, our kids' appointments are next week and we will be taking them. They took everything out of the waiting room and are asking people to wait in their cars until their appointments. They have said they are wearing full PPE.

We are going this month; one has braces, one doesn’t.

My son has an appointment tomorrow, about 6-8 weeks late. My next appt is scheduled in July and I don’t plan to cancel it.

What was the pain due to? Just curious bc my daughter has the same thing.

Crowding in lower jaw, adult teeth trying to come in sideways. X-ray confirmed no decay or infection. Heading to the orthodontist next week!

Great to hear (no decay or infection). How old is your daughter?

I canceled my son's May appointment and rescheduled for August. I think by then we'll feel safe going.

Although I agree with the poster who said it's not actually a big deal to skip a cleaning if there are no other issues. You can certainly get by without 2 cleanings a year for your kids.

Dentists already had in place sterile practices, and they are far more in danger from you (open mouth aerosols) than you are from them. We went right before full shut down and they had already increased their sanitization of the office area and other high touch surfaces. Just went to the orthodontist and they are patient only in office (it's first floor, parents wait in car), temperature check, and patients with masks until asked. Full PPE for everyone else.

My one kid is due now, but we'll wait until August or September. I think with the one whose 3 months past due, I'd take them in sometime in the next month or so. If June feels tenuous, make a July appt. It's ok really.

We are going to the dentist today. I'd rather go during the summer fresh out of lockdown with cases low, then during the winter/flu season. By going now I can skip the next visit if need be.

We were supposed to take my kids in March and early April but don’t think we’ll be rescheduling for a while or maybe we’ll be finding another dentist because ours is no longer allowing parents to go back with the child and I know my younger two will not go back without a parent.

I took them both yesterday. I’ll let you know in 2 weeks if any of us got COVID.
