Montgomery County Still on Lockdown. What does that mean?

Just because they aren’t issuing permits doesn’t mean people can’t use the open fields,,,they just have to share the space with anyone else who happens to be there. If the fields are open, any one including sports teams should be able to use them.

We play basketball and soccer in the park every day.
We ride bikes, we run, we play golf.
Stop with the massive exaggerations.
You can’t play team sports. Deal with it.

You are right you can do things. But I’m not ok that the county says you can play youth sports activities with 1 coach and 9 kids, but they make it difficult by not issuing permits. That’s disingenuous. And you could do all of those things - with exception of golf - before phase 1.

It has amazed throughout this process how utterly disorganized Elrich is. He knew the state was moving to Phase 2 and what that would look like but he is just now evaluating it? Dude, you knew it was coming, starting planning in advance so you can communicate effectively with your constituents.

Yep. I can go to fking Target without capacity restrictions, but my local flower shop can’t open (even with the 50% capacity restriction Hogan put in place). Ridiculous.

The targets I go into are still counting heads.

99,100 people in MOCO filed for unemployment since March but it just doesn’t seem a priority.

And saving lives doesn’t seem to be your priority.
I’m happy erring on the safe side.

I get it. I am a scientist and study this. But with most of the country open up and protests - which are important - opened up for thousands of people day after day, I think 9 kids and a coach on a field outside is ok. I think many small businesses could re-employ people.

Taking a completely myopic view of safety (ignoring the health costs of lockdown), telling people they don’t care about life, and wearing smugness on your latex sleeves. Yeah, that is really the way to persuade people. This is simply the mirror image of the lunacy we see at the opposite end of the political spectrum. Everybody just wants to send their little-brained primal screams into cyberspace and then think their mediocre thoughts are really smart when other peabrains agree and still other peabrains disagree. Great discourse we have in this country. You just keep on saving all of us pal. Thanks for your service.

Sorry for the dumb question but.....

Is soccer considered a low contact sport?

MoCo is planing to go into Phase 2 next week. It says for Phase 2, Youth Outdoor Sports, it allows for Expanded access for low-contact sports.

I don't think he's disorganized. I think he's scared to open up.

Rightfully so. I don't mind being a little bit behind the other counties.

Answer to thread title: the only thing it means is that MoCo has a lot of lawyers.

There are a few things we don’t want to be in the lead is COVID-19. Let other states/counties do their evaluations and trial & errors first and we can learn from them without risking any innocent lives.

Other than the lives in the other counties? Or are you saying they are not innocent? Spoken like a true bubbler who can work at home, keep their job, get their food delivered, and send a check to keep unemployed people at home. Glad you are ok with lockdown. Others are not. Innocent lives. Utter nonsense.
