^ How much do you want to bet that Trump has ALL LIVES MATTER painted right in front of the WH now

Nah, he only cares about "Blue Lives Matter".

Incorrect again. He care about Orange Lives, and only one of them. Everyone else is background noise.

People on Twitter were complaining that this was substantive enough; I still like the simple declarative statements of both the street-width sign and the plaza name.

It is one gesture in a sea of change that needs to happen. I don't get the hate either.

Now she’s just rubbing his face in it

I bet the view will be great on Marine One when it takes off from the White House.

City did it, volunteers jumped in to help.

Local artist Rose Jaffe said she and others joined city work crews to paint the giant slogan, starting around 4 a.m.

Thank you to everyone who clarified this.

What a dumbass. He created this by bringing in National Guard units with no plan for coordination.

DC has large demonstrations and other large events all the time so the MPD and DC National Guard don't need National Guard units from other states and did not request them. The dispute with the Utah Guard is simply that Bowser said DC did not request them and is not responsible for their hotel bill. The Army can pay for their rooms or can send them home to Utah.

All these Guard units and DOJ units are not coordinating or communicating within a Chain of Command with MPD and the DC Guard, so they need to stay off DC streets. If Trump needs thousands of federal troops to guard the White House, Ellipse, and Lafayette Square, he can keep them there and pay their expenses.

How is DC’s budget “out of control”? They had a $500 million surplus last year.

So we're just going to skip over BLM telling the Mayor to take her street painting and shove it up her @ss?

I understand BLM has many issues to address, but I do think this is a symbolic start to resolving issues - and symbols matter.

The mayors budget includes a 3.3% increase in funds to MPD while it cuts funds to social services. I love the symbol as much as anyone here, but she needs to fix that.
