Each additional non-household contact increases exposure by a lot, because one contact doesn't actually represent one person: one contact represents all of their recent contacts as well.
Think of it in terms of STDs. If everyone has unprotected sex, you're not just sleeping with that person, you're potentially sleeping with all the persons this person has slept with recently.
What is legal is not always what's advisable.
Agree! I keep thinking of this like an STD and a mask is a condom. I actually have an STD and have a very low partner count but unfortunately was with one person who lied and had many. Protect yourself!
