Congo

We're probably taking the credit, but I worry a little bit about whether they'll even be able to offer camp next summer. I'm worried about losing out on the money.

Good for them for doing the right thing. I’m impressed. Interesting that small groups will be ok.

From the e-mail today they noted that the small groups will only be for rising 6th graders and younger. My interpretation is that they're focusing on the ages less likely to get sick, and most likely to need summer care. They're also going to offer virtual camps and virtual academic programs. Details on all of the options to be provided next week.

So if Congo opens for smaller groups, would that be in June or later in the summer?

The email said it would start July 6th.

I"m asking for a refund. This year, they have to give it. Next year, there might be some protection for them to not honor their refund policy or they might run out of money. Although, they do have a pretty good reserve.

Now if they offered a very generous incentive for not asking for a refund, I might consider that. I'm also assuming the limited camps will be offered to Congressional Families first? Makes sense, I"m just not one.

Congo stays afloat with their summer camps. The school enrollment has dwindled over the past more than a few years. You are smart to ask for your refund. This is devastating to the school’s financial health.

They might have gotten PPP funds.

Most of these camps can’t qualify unless they’re the school. They’d have to spend 75% of it on employees salaries and they can’t.
