How do you spread COVID asymptomatically

"Can those people who are completely asymptomatic, who never develop any symptoms, transmit the infection? That's still kind of an open question," says Smith.

There are lots of things we don't know. Hopefully it turns out that asymptomatic people don't transmit, but other viruses are transmitted asymptomatically and presymptomatically, so it makes sense to take precautions.

We do know that the super spreader at the choir practice in WA was not reporting symptoms at that time.

Once more for the thousandth time - presymptomatic (got sick later) VS asymptomatic (never got sick).

Like basically every contagious illness (cold / stomach flu / etc), COVID is very contagious right before the person feels sick.

It has not been confirmed that asymptomatic people can spread.

There is a lot evidence that they can transmit without symptoms- that's the entire problem with this disease. Otherwise we could just isolate people with fevers and coughs and be done with it.

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/studies-show-carriers-with-mild-or-no-symptoms-are-key-part-of-covid-19-spread/

https://www.propublica.org/article/what-we-need-to-understand-about-asymptomatic-carriers-if-were-going-to-beat-coronavirus

Those articles show that some people don't have symptoms, not that people without symptoms are spreading it.

Asymptotic person with allergies sneezes on a door knob and you touch that knob then touch your face.

Then how is the 3 days BEFORE starting symptoms the most contagious?

Of course asymptomatic carriers can infect others. Laughing, eating, spittle, and breathing heavy. Anyway aerosol in the air. How about putting their fingers in their eyes/nose/mouth and then touching their phone. Then touching their phone in the store and then picking up some food, deciding not to get it and you pick up after with your hands and then touch it again a few times, touch your phone, etc... How about door knobs and grocery carts too?

I think there's also confusion around truly asymptomatic and I have a sore throat and headache and cough a few times a day but I'm pretty sure that's allergies.

Of course, for a lot of people it really IS allergies, so there's no way to tell without testing.

ASYMPTOMATIC IS DIFFERENT THAN PRESYMPTOMATIC

I can't.

Because that’s called presymptomatic, not asymptomatic...

Your frustration is misplaced. For the purpose of this question, the asymptomatic/presymptomatic person are one and the same. OP's question is how does someone who is not coughing/sneezing spread the virus.

That refers to asymptomatic people who never develop symptoms at all. Different from presymptomatic - those who are asymptomatic now but go on to show symptoms later. The question is whether the former can transmit. I don’t think there’s any question about the latter.

I'm OP I'm not medical so bear with me

I think I got the answer to my question even if you aren't showing symptoms you can still spread the virus through touch

That answers my next question that face masks actually matter. If you can't touch your face, eyes, nose mouth you can't spread the virus.

So separate question why was there such hesitancy for face masks until a couple weeks ago

OP here yeah if you eventually show symptoms of course you can spread it but for those that never show symptoms what then. Assume they can still spread through touch since the virus is "in them" they just aren't expressing any outwards signs that they have it hence why face masks are important.

Because Demi-God Fauci said no masks...who the hell knows why he said that.

Fauci never said this. Other administration officials did.

Yeah, I’m not sure if there’s evidence that people who were NEVER symptomatic can transmit the virus.

But then again, how many cases are there of COVID where the person NEVER had symptoms?

Read this, it's easy to understand and uses case study to illustrate points.
