Maryland drivers going 130 mph on the Beltway

Most new highways in this area are built for speeds of 100mph or more. The speed limits are set really low unnecessarily. Most new cars can handle those speeds also. The problem is many but not all drivers have the skills to drive that fast and people in this area arent taught to stay to the right unless they are passing. Also, most people dont allow adequate stopping distance. The faster you travel the more space you need between you and the car in front of you. On the straight part of 495, when there is no traffic i could see someone going 100 mph easily.

If you have a Tesla you should be allowed to drive as fast as you want, ai and safety measures prevent crashes and deaths.

DH takes the beltway between MD and VA every day and says it’s been nuts. Will sit in the right lane going 65 to avoid getting run off the road. I haven’t had much reason to get on the beltway since this has began but did yesterday and the number of people just flying out there was unbelievable. Saw one or two cops but clearly it’s not enough. Time for mobile speed cameras.

Since April I've seen people speeding at over 100 mph on 267, and not always in the direction of the airport. Aggressive driving maneuvers combined with excessive speed even on major side roads like Lewinsville Road. GW Parkway has always had bad drivers, but recently it's gotten much worse.

And you know their speed because you’re going 100 yourself and still being passed?

Elon Musk has come out as a rightwing douchebag who’s trying to cripple California. If I owned a Tesla, I would be trading it in about now, lest people think I support that douchebag.

You want MORE high-speed crashes on the Beltway? Why? Do you own a tow-truck business?
