Hi Ram
Is Ram short for Rameses or are you named after a male goat?

Just name your kid Henry

You’re thinking “Chiam”

I like old fashioned names but for some reason Hiram just doesn’t resonate. I had a great great uncle named Hosea - still Judaic and old fashioned, also starts with “H”. Just a suggestion. And congrats on the baby!!!

Did you go to Hiram College?

Yeah, and Hiram was so bad he went by ULYSSES. Not a ringing endorsement.

Np I read Ron Chernow's book and I think he went by Ulysses because it was a mistake. Yes it was his middle name but, when He entered West Point and the person thought his name first name was Ulysses Simpson Grant and he just went with it because he liked the initials better. Now I read this over a year ago and I can't check the book because my brother borrowed it but, this is what I remember.

I do agree Hiram is horrible thought!

OP Don't do it!

I’m Jewish. My kids have Israeli American names. I don’t like hiring because it’s not Anglo… I don’t like Hiram because it’s ugly no matter how you look at it.

+1 I agree with this post. It's an unusual name and definitely makes a statement, but at least it's not another random surname the parents think sounds upscale or "tough."

Which is actually Chaim.

Sounds like a name from a Woody Allen movie.
