Eating Organic Lamb and Lobster During Haitian Tragedy?

Anonymous
What did you eat that night? Please, come on. What is this? The President responded quickly with help and continued during his personal time, .. this is crazy...

Of course Obama should not be taking his wife to dinner on her birthday.

He should have hoped the next plane, no wait he should have taken the next ship and jumped off an swam to shore with a 6 pack of water taped to his leg...

Seriously, he is a politician not Jack Bauer...he isn't expected to swoop into crisis and safe people with his bare hands left and right..

Right on 17:29, let's go out to dinner and have the lamb at Nora, I hear it's real good..

I am, however, not surprised by the number of Obama apologists posting here. If it had been Bush, you would have been all over it.

A. We were all over Bush because his response to natural disasters S-U-C-K-E-D.
B. I see no reason why a president has to do something to be image-savvy. I personally think it is false symbolism.
C. I am very involved with a group home for children in Haiti, and as a matter of fact I have lamb shanks in the fridge right now. I have no idea why you would think eating chicken would be of any value.
D. What are YOU doing about Haiti? Have you put on a hair shirt yet? Found some other way to suffer in sympathy?

I am more irritated with Sanjay Gupta, who is a surgeon, but spends his first two days in Haiti (having taken a seat on a plane to get there) reporting, not treating desperate people who need medical care. The first person he treats is a 15 day old baby with a superficial head wound that looked like it was totally staged, probably because people like me were writing CNN to complain that he was walking past people he as a doctor could help. He finally stepped in when UN doctors were pulled out of field hospital for safety. Again, it was a great photo op.

I do not think this is true about Sanjay Gupta. On Friday night the Belgian medical team evacuated from a hospital due to security concerns, leaving no one there. Sanjay Gupta spent the whole night taking care of these sick and injured people. I think what that medical team did was chickenshit. And while I am generally suspicious of news men in a disaster, he did a courageous thing and I have done medical work in two of the slums in Haiti. I can't imagine how he held it all together that night.

Whine, whine, whine.

Oh, please. It probably bugs you when Obama sneezes. Grow up.

Oh please. All of you go and review your anti-Bush and Palin posts from a year ago. You grow up.

OP should be glad that POTUS patronized a DC restaurant. Chicago has way better restaurants than DC Further, Obama isn't the President of Haiti. BTW, while I was no fan of W, it was oddly reassuring when I saw him, 44, and 42 speaking at the Whitehouse. What rubs me the wrong way is all the TV people that we seem to have in Haiti. I mean, we can't get the Disaster Relief supplies out to the people in time....but, we have some no-name dude with a mic from DC Channel 7?

About half of Fox News' coverage has been about the GOP's big opportunity in Massachusetts. They are positively gleeful about it. So is Fox wrong to cover it so heavily? Should they be chastised for not devoting enough attention to Haiti? And is the president required to be a total dumbass and ignore the election in order to appear appropriately concerned about Haiti?

Yes, Obama should totally shoot himself in the foot. He should feed his wife beans and rice for her birthday in a show of support. The while dinner should be turned into a photo op. They should look appropriately somber as Michelle pushes her birthday present away and says "No.... sell it, whatever it is, and send the money to an orphanage. Save the children!" Obama should send a letter explaining to the DNC that he'd love to help but duty calls. Then he can issue his "Tout Moun Se Ayisien Jodi a!" speech. And Fox News can say that he plagiarized McCain on Georgia. Lastly, Rush can point out that the president is pandering to his constituents.

Listen, all this talk of organic lamb and lobster is making me hungry, I think I am going to make reservations at Nora for this coming up weekend. Thank you for the suggestion.

I'm more perturbed at his choice of restaurant. Nora hasn't been worth a presidential visit in quite some time.
