5 credits? How is that possible? My DD has Algebra, Geometry, and Spanish.

Maybe 3 credits for Spanish?

or Algebra II

My kid will have 6
Spanish I, II, III
Algebra
Geometry
Foundations of Comp Sci (or whatever this class is called)

If your child takes an honors level full year language from 6th grade you can choose to include it in the HS transcript. As for math, you don't have the choice, its automatically included.

For clarification you should email your MS counsellor.

“For students who entered Grade 6 prior to the 2018–2019 school year, the final grade and credit for high school courses successfully completed in middle school are reported on the high school transcript and included in the calculation of the student’s cumulative GPA. For students who enter Grade 6 during or after the 2018–2019 school year, the final grade and credit earned for high school courses successfully completed while in middle school will be reported on the high school transcript, but will not be calculated into the cumulative GPA, unless requested by the parent/guardian or the student. If the student is an ineligible student as defined in MCPS Regulation JEA-RB, Enrollment of Students. The option to include such courses in cumulative GPA will take place after completion of the course during the 2020–2021 school year.”

It really depends on the college as to whether they look at the middle school grade. Our high school does not use middle school grades toward GPA but some high schools ask for them. For example, Florida State asked about my daughter's Algebra 1 grade and high school-level foreign language grade even though she had taken them in middle school. Both math and foreign language are considered core classes by many colleges.

Don't stress: 95% of colleges recalculate the GPA and most exclude the HS classes taken in middle-school in that GPA.
