Anyone have tricks that spurred labor ?

Honestly? I think masturbation made it start for me at 38+3, though I had lost a bit of my mucous plug a few days earlier so may have just been a coincidence.

I was overdue both times. First time, induced at 42 weeks after trying EVERYTHING (if you can find it on the internet, I tried it.... including castor oil....). Went into labor at 40 wks 6 days with second one, and I really did feel like I felt something in the days preceding labor while 1) bouncing on exercise ball and 2) doing curb walks. I can't be sure, but hey, you could always try them. But don't expect anything.

Uh, based on what? I went to 41.5 with membrane stripping, 3 visits to the accupuncturist, and an induction. She probably would have stayed until 43 weeks, I was at a zero on the Bishop scale when I went in to be induced even after all of that.

Add me to the list of people who tried e v e r y t h i n g while overdue to no avail. After many many internet deep dives. And some sex that was so awkward and terrible we both had PTSD.

This made me laugh. I’m the OP. Done walks, pineapple, acupressure, and suggested sex to my hubby last night and he looked incredibly unenthusiastic 😂

Long walk worked for me.

Not super helpful but both times my husband had a specific deadline that he could not miss (one was a presentation and one he was out of town as faculty for a professional training conference and was gone for two weeks). Both times (well before my due dates) I went into labor the day after his event. Like the stress of knowing he could not be available was keeping me pregnant and as soon as I relaxed it happened. Another person’s husband was deployed and got on the flight to come home - that day while he was still in transit to their home - she went into labor and gave birth before he landed. Same thing, I think, as soon as she relaxed about him missing it because he was supposed to be home, she went into labor.

Is there anything non labor related - a move, getting the nursery, finding a nanny that you could “solve” and help you relax more? I know not super helpful but since you tidied everything else it can’t hurt

Try pumping or hand expressing

I used the breast pump for 10 minutes, and pumped a pea sized colostrum. Labor started 12 hours later.

As a first time mom, it was also helpful to try it out so I knew how it worked.

Went way overdue with my first. Tried almost everything and needed to be induced at 42 weeks.

With my second I got my membranes stripped at 40 weeks, baby was born 24 hours later. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but I really do believe it’s why I went into labor with my second.

My OB said that membrane stripping has a low success rate for first time mothers, but for second time mom's they almost always go into labor within 48 hours.

Sex (good sex with an orgasm) and fresh pineapple

Nothing worked for me. Ended up having two inductions, DS at 41+6, DD at 40+4.

Nothing. I tried lots of things - Red raspberry leaf tea, eating dates, sex, baths, long walks. I was induced at 41 weeks, 1 day.
