All you need is Arlington, Beach, Roanoke, and I think you have all the original CCL clubs covered in that group ! |
|
These are the distances from National Airport, quickly calculated on Google Maps.
This is insane. BRYC Elite Academy - 14 miles Charlotte Independence Pro -- 400 miles Charlotte Independence South -- 400 miles Charlotte Soccer Academy -- 400 miles Charlotte Soccer ECNL -- 400 miles CESA (Greenvile) -- 487 miles Loudoun Soccer -- 31 miles Mclean YSA -- 9 miles NC Fusion (Greensboro) - 310 miles NCFC Youth - 274 miles NCFC Academy - 274 miles Richmond United - 107 miles South Carolina United - 491 miles Virginia Development Academy - 29 miles Wilmington Hammerheads - 362 miles |
| ECNL move the Carolines to a different conference and add MD instead!!! |
They will schedule multiple games for one trip. Still it is bad
|
The travel would not make any sense. If these teams end up in ECNL, it will have been a total waste of an opportunity to create a DMV conference, and they will lose players to top EDP clubs. Think about how much time and money (that could be better spent on private lessons) you will lose traveling to SC or MA. |
Contrasting High School seasons between VA and MD prevents that. Remember, this is what you all wanted. |
So for a local team, 10 of the other 14 teams in your conference are 274 miles away or more. Outstanding! |
|
The unfortunate reality is the Boys ECNL model is working. BRYC, Loudoun, and McLean are already faring reasonably well in my DS's age group. Add a few more local Clubs, slim down DA to MLS, and it only looks better.
Whether we like it or not there is clearly a market out there for Pay To Play Elite and the iron is hot for ECNL to stake it's claim. |
Is your DS on one of these teams? Are you considering switching? |
Yes, this is what you wanted. You now get to play High School which will be local. DA was bad, remember that. |
And that does not even reflect traffic which makes the trip 2-3 times longer
|
Who would not relish the opportunity to visit this far far-away places, and play against these teams you have never heard of? Imagine the potential cultural enrichment. As was emphasized many times earlier on this thread, Arlington, Bethesda and BA players will be ready to kill to get on McLean and Loudoun rosters. |
We toyed with the idea of McLean in the past as it is closer to us for practices, but even the schedule this season (with multiple long trips) made it unappealing. This new schedule makes it a non-starter. |
At the end of the day youth soccer in this country is about money. And nobody does it like ECNL when it comes to making money. |
If the ECNL want to recruit some of the DA teams, they may split the NE conference, which has 16 teams already. |
