I am not seeing huge rental price cuts but seeing a strong demand for basement rentals due to preference for SFHs. |
9/11 fueled the rise of DC real estate. Same will be true this time around. Plus Amazon is set to sky rocket
Now, if you want to buy in Orlando, you can basically name your price. |
Because the parasite known as air bnb has sucked a massive number of units away from places available for permanent residency and turned them into residential motels. Now that they can't do air bnb with covid, owners have to put properties up for long term renters to cover the mortgage. We can clearly see the devastating impact Airbnb has on affordability and cost of living for long term residents. Rents are plummeting in every city where covid has helped to block Airbnb. Gee, who'd ever imagine that when you suck away a huge number of units for residential motel units you'd cause a crisis for cost of living and affordability? |
Trump is taking credit for the lower costs! |
Tell me which two luxury highrises in DC are offering 3br for $2500. I will call them and accept that offer on your behalf. |
Apartments in this area want too much anyway. Charging for every little amenity. Surprised they don’t charge for air to breathe every month.
They’re overpriced anyway so I’m glad these greedy bastards are struggling. |

$4800 is too much for that place |
S/he's probably talking about somewhere out in Reston or Bowie. Because...not happening in D.C. In fact, its hard to find availability. All these places have over 150 units. And all have less than 10% availability. http://www.highlandparkdc.com/floorplans.aspx https://7878346.onlineleasing.realpage.com/#k=31604 https://www.dcchannel.com/floor-plans/apartment?bed=two_bed&min_price=&max_price=&availability=&floor= |
Paying all that money to be close to places that are closed up, you can't even use the common area on the building's rooftop due to social distancing. Close to a metro station that isn't really running. Meanwhile, they don't have a car because either parking is ridiculously expensive or there's no parking at all. I have coworker that live in these "amenity exclusive" buildings and they are going crazy. |
Yup, absolute insanity. Of course none of these buildings are offering compensation for the closing of their many amenities. I'm not so sure about 3 bedroom luxury units going for 2500/month but that's probably what they are worth now, and hopefully what they'll be forced to charge soon. |
Even odder is that these places want NYC prices for an apartment in lame-ass Bethesda or Arlington. |
Those aren't NYC prices for luxury accommodations in Manhattan though. If you consider Bethesda or Arlington DC's Brooklyn or Queens - the pricing is fair. |
