For what though? A vaccine? |
I think the demand for daycare will be way down after everyone has had to figure out how to go without for 2-3 months. |
It depends on when they open again. If they open before I feel is a good time to go back, I’ll see if they can work with us to reserve the spot somehow. |
Unfortunately I feel like this is more work's call than mine. I'd like to keep the infant, in particular, home as long as possible, but I cant expect infinite flexibility if federal buildings are open. |
Yup. If daycare is open and my office is open they will be there. |
Daycare won’t open until fall at earliest |
Yes. I’d go now if they let me. If I don’t get childcare soon I’ll be adding to the ranks of the unemployed |
+1 If my building opens back up, how will it even be a choice to keep my 4 year old at home? I'm tied to the daycare/still paying, and won't be hiring a sitter or a nanny while still paying daycare. Unless my employer gets ridiculous and mandates return early, like on May 1. |
In which case, I'd have to pay a sitter and the daycare. |
Not a chance. |
Curious, why keep infant at home if older children are in group settings? If an older kid gets it, your infsnt is exposed. |
I don’t know if I’ll be the first, but when they reopen they will expect us to pay to keep the spot and the spot took over a year on a waiting list to get in the first place. We don’t have other care lined up so I imagine we will start using it again when we have to be back at work. |
Same. I try to keep in mind that most of us will be exposed eventually, if we haven’t already. |
If daycare reopens in June, I'll probably send soon after. If it opens before that, I'll pay for our spot, but I'll most likely wait a couple of weeks to see how things go. I'll just continue to WFH or take leave if I'm not comfortable sending her right away. |
Nobody is going to want to go first. People are going to want to see if everybody else’s kids are getting sick before they send their own. It’ll be a process. |
