Kids wearing masks in their front yards/strollers

A whole group of kids will be treated for PTSD because of their psycho moms and their crazy quarantine rules.

Agree, I think my kids would be traumatized. I can make it as cool and fun as I want, say they're magic and get their favorite characters. But it's still unnecessary to wear a mask on a nature walk, far from anyone you know.

Whoa, really?

NP. I was walking with my toddler in his stroller today. A mailman chastised me for not having a mask on my baby.

Anxiety issues are sad, but do anything you can do not impose them onto your kids. It's going to be really hard for them if parents don't get help.

Yard no unless there are other kids that might come into yard or kids will run up to people walking by. Strollers yes, someone could cough while we pass.

That’s not anxiety. That’s realistic caution.

Are people coming, and lingering within 2-3 feet of your kid? Ok, fine.

People passing more than a few feet away... you're paranoid and it's really going to affect your kids badly.

People have their own reasons. Maybe it's easier for the parents to say "always masks when outside" rather than negotiating each time. I have profound sadness about some things, little kids in masks isn't even hitting my top 20 at this point.

but you don't need to wear a mask outside. You need to wear one if you cannot maintain social distancing/in a store/in public inside.

No, we are not wearing them while playing outside of our house, or while going on walks around the neighborhood or while hiking in nature. We do maintain 6 feet apart as much as possible with any one we cross paths with.

We did get masks for the whole family. Mainly because I think this pandemic is not going away anytime soon, so mask wearing may be here to stay for awhile.

My DH will be wearing it while grocery shopping mainly, for the foreseeable future.

Also, the mask is not to protect YOU. It's to protect other people around you in case you have the virus, but do not have symptoms. It's to get you to act like a sick a person.

AND NO MASKS ON UNDER 2 YEAR OLDS.

The mask is to keep someone who has to virus from spreading the virus. It is not to keep you from getting coughed on. And no masks in strollers, because no one under the age of 2 should be wearing a mask.

Agree. But these are the moms who catastrophize everything. If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. They feed on drama.

I'm super paranoid about COVID but don't plan to wear a mask outside or make my kid wear one. I will wear a mask eventually in indoor spaces when we re-open. I don't believe there's an actual risk being outside as long as you stay 6 ft apart; and the evidence on masks is so weak anyway. (I don't go to crowded outdoor places anymore.)

This. With little kids you can’t change it up, have to stay consistent. And yes, people are getting within 2-3 feet on sidewalk at times. It’s better to be prepared and judged than catching or spreading. Asymptotic spread is real. Be thankful if you live somewhere that has a lower population density right now, and ease up on armchair science/opining for others that don’t and might need to be outside.

Regular masks have nothing to do with anxiety. It’s to protect others in case you’re an asymptomatic carrier. Stop scapegoating moms.

My mom had anxiety when I was growing up. I wish people realized how damaging that can be on a kid
