Dartmouth advice

Any Ivy
Northwestern or Duke
Dartmouth
Cornell

That is the order. Anything else is out.

Sounds like someone spent too long looking at the US News Rankings....

Dartmouth has a lot of students who are not "Toga Yoga Toga" types. The performing arts facilities are fantastic and busy. Don't be fooled by Dartmouth's reputation for being dominated by drunken frat boys. I'm not saying that the stereotype is completely wrong, but there are artists, singers and actors there too.

Jake Tapper (the cartoonist and CNN anchor) went there. So did Shonda Rhimes (incredibly successful TV writer and producer). So did the Lego Movie guys. So did some SNL cast members. So did the Animal House guys...

I've noticed that most Dartmouth alumni say they liked it. Few colleges have such enthusiastic alumni.

Dartmouth is a great school! Fabulous study abroad program. Big enough to have all different types, small enough that it's hard to be overlooked. Obviously prestigious. Enthusiastic alumni, which leads to a strong alumni network.

So if your kid got into Stanford, MIT, UChicago, or Caltech, all those options would be below the schools listed. Yeah, right.

Lmao imagine going to Northwestern over any Ivy. Northwestern certainly might be better but the reality is, the Ivy brand is very strong. Cornell Engineering is absolutely great and same for Dartmouth Business.

I loved it!!! And actually chose it over Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Duke, Brown. Amazing alumni who really love the school. The outdoor environment is beautiful and classes are taught by professors, not grad students. Focus on undergrad education. Congrats!

I didn’t go to Dartmouth but know many graduates and I have visited it on several occasions. I would so love one of my children to go there. What a lovely school in a cool town in one of my favorite destinations!

Nope. Are you just shocked that anyone would turn down Stanford or Yale or both?

I didn't go to Yale or Dartmouth but have spent time at both because family members went to both. Depending on your interests, I can easily see choosing Dartmouth over Yale, although I myself would choose Yale. Dartmouth/Hanover feels like a much happier place than Yale/New Haven. Dartmouth/Hanover also feels like a place with more frat parties, more drinking, and less in the way of art and culture.

You can get to any graduate school, professional school, bank, or consulting firm from Dartmouth.

I loved it there but you need to take off the Ivy colored glasses and make sure your son is making the decision for the right reasons. Did he love the school when he visited or is he just influenced by the fact that is an Ivy League school.

Wow do you come across at obnoxious!! You don't ask what this kid likes or values. You just state you mere OPINION as fact (i.e, anyone holding an alternative viewpoint is WRONG). You should work on that.
