No Class Meetings Between 11am-1pm?

Anonymous
This time might also be reserved for team meetings/teacher lunch

I’m elementary and we were told to leave 11-1 open as well. Before 11 is supposed to be for elementary live instruction and afternoon for middle/high live instruction.

Well that seems eminently reasonable. Kids need to eat!

Having a 2 hour slot of time blocked off for lunch seems excessive. An hour would be sufficient.

It's for kids and families who need to go to the food distribution centers. Many need to take public transportation and that takes time.

Don’t you take that long for your 2 martini lunch.

You do realize that not every family has
1. A meal distribution place close to their home
2. Access to car in which to drive to the closest meal distribution location
3. Another adult or older sibling to leave young children at home to get meals/educational materials

I am glad that Mcps put this into the schedule. It should be honored at every school, in every classroom. Kids need to eat first, bottom line.

NOT FOR THE CHILDREN WHO NEED TO TRAVEL TO THE SCHOOL SITE TO PICK UP MEALS AND COME HOME TO ONLINE CLASSES.

Buses run on a very light schedule. It's no guarantee all families have their own transportation.

Why are you yelling?

Can they do meal pick ups from 9-11am? Teachers can use that time in the AM of planning.

Meetings start after 11am for ES kids.

Can’t be shifted due to contractual hours for the food workers. Many of whom work multiple jobs.

Anne Arundel has a district wide rule of no instruction between 11 and 1. Intended both for kids to go get food if needed and for teachers to have a dedicated break where parents don’t expect a response so they can take care of their own families

But that is the same time my nanny is on break. What am I supposed to do during that time? You expect me to do something constructive with my own kids?

That sucks.

Actually, it is better than I had hoped. The only issue for me is that my household has two teachers and a middle schooler who will all need privacy and strong WiFi in the same two hours. We just learned yesterday that our internet provider will not install a hookup for a wifi booster. DD’s bedroom is the dead zone and there’s nothing back there to hook the booster to. No cable hook up or phone jack. Our provider says it is not an emergency and offered us an appointment at the end of April.

My elementary kids have meetings at 11 and 12 on Thursday. We are in a W cluster.

Get a WiFi extender that plugs into an outlet.

Elem focus school here too. We have the same plan
