Can we still do stuff like this, with the new stay-at-home restrictions? Does anyone know?

Yes, omg did any of you read the actual orders?

I am PP. I read an article that outlined the order, and I understood from it that you could only leave your house for essential things, like work (if you're an essential employee), grocery store, pharmacy, etc. It didn't say you could drive to friends' houses. Where are you getting that??

I should add, and going out for exercise (which doesn't require a car ride). So, I don't know what you people are planning to say if you get pulled over, but you better thing of something ahead of time.

You could decorate the living room with balloons and such while they are asleep, and have pancakes or their favorite thing for breakfast. Even though you all areas home, it would feel special if everyone dresses up for the 'party'.

We just took part in a card shower. My friend asked via facebook that all her son's friends mail him b-day cards. Takes a little planning, but he loved it!

I would also have a zoom b-day party. It will be chaos, so no games or anything. But just seeing each other's faces is perfect!

Ask people to record their messages on videos. Do a virtual birthday and treats like home movie etc. Do a video conf and everyone should sing the Happy Birthday song.

For my tween DD, once I had set up a spa station for her as a treat and put nailpolish and face mask for her. I also set up the bathroom with fake candles and bath oils etc. She loved it.

Maybe think of something special that they like to do and can be done at home and then do it on the birthday. You got it, mom!

In addition to the birthday family having made a cake, the rest of us had each made our own cakes at our houses so that we could all have a slice of birthday cake together. We also played some games like Pictionary using Zoom's shared white board.

Loved these ideas.

My 4 year old is SO excited about his upcoming fifth birthday. He has been talking about it and brainstorming party ideas since before Christmas. It’s not until June, so I’m holding out hope, but doubtful. I am sad to crush his little spirits.

I was thinking of having one of those companies that puts signs in your yard come out and put up a happy birthday sign. Also cake and FaceTime with grandparents. Maybe decorate the basement like a party room. I just don’t know.

Hello. I’ve been doing zoom bday parties online. My show is geared for 2-7 so it wouldn’t be much help to Op, but I’ve been doing lots of parties for younger kids.
How it works is that parents and I have picked a time to do zoom party. They invite all their friends to join at that particular time. I do a performance from my living room, and the kids tune in. Once, I’m done, we all sing happy bday and everyone’s box is on screen and they hold up cards that they have made for bday child. We play freeze dance during show, as well. Thanks, The Great Zucchini
Email me if your interested. It can be any day during the week, as I have 3 zoom parties today, for instance.

The Police are staying away from the general public barring emergencies. No one ( in the dmv) is getting pulled over for being out. You can go for a walk/hike/bike/run...seeing as most people cant hike by walking from their house, you can drive to a park as long as its open. So yes you can drive to your friends street, and social distance and sign happy bday.

While Dd was sound asleep/right before I went to bed, I snuck into her room and quietly taped up streamers, hung balloons above her bed and decorated her bedroom. She was thrilled and surprised when she awoke the next morning.

I also drew a giant bday cake/message on the driveway in chalk. And 2 of her neighborhood friends came over (separately of course) and wrote her a bday message in chalk too.

Facetime with friends, favorite foods, etc abd the promise of a fun friend party once we get through this.

AWESOME.

You can also plant some flower seeds in her honor or even some beans or herbs It will be interesting to watch something beautiful grow. This is going to be a long haul but the the anticipation be for positive things and to keep a sunny attitude.

I wonder if you live in MD? Because things are different here in VA. Governor told police to give a warning the first time and then it's a felony misdemeanor. $2500 fine and/or up to a year in jail. I don't know if they are really pulling people over, but several people I know have received letters from their employer to carry in their vehicles. I saw a police (speed trap maybe?) on Monday.
