How long will we be under a state of emergency

Another two weeks max. It isn’t sustainable. They will implement a lockdown for the elderly and sick.

The vaccine will come next year at the earliest. If people start opening businesses and going about life as usual, all that will happen is that people will AND then we will have a big recession.

"I'm pretty sure Dr. Northam will keep VA under wraps as long as it takes to calm the curve. I support him."

hunh? He's been slow and step or two behind MD at every turning point here. Seems overly sensitive to the worries in the other parts of the state that this is overblown.

As to another PP that is saying this will last until a vaccine; no that's WAY too long. It needs to last until we gear up to handle the surge on the medical side - enough PPE; enough beds in temp areas like colleges/hotels/etc; enough testing & tracing.

We can't possibly wait to reopen the economy for a year; but we can equip ourselves over a couple months to handle a surge in sick people rather than letting people die in hospital driveways since there is: 1) not enough PPE; 2) no space to put them ; and 3) no idea really who's sick and who's not due to woefully insufficient testing. That's what we need to get back to a semblance of normal; once those are in place then people that need to sequester can do so & everyone else can work.
