Is it safe to play tennis during Coronavirus pandemic?

Yes it’s ok although DPR has shut down all facilities.

I was planning to play tennis every morning with DD as part of her missing Physical Exercise requirement.

Ball bounces in that spot or you pick up ball from that spot.

Would it be on your hands then? And it’s easy to accidentally touch your face in the middle of a game.

Similar question with basketball courts.

Also, would rain wash it off? I heard virus is clingy to things that’s why they keep pushing soap (not just water, which actually is all you need for most bacteria).

And direct sunlight — how fast would it kill virus, and does it need to be above 50 deg to give enough Uv-C to do the job?

This whole contagion things is making me paranoid and crazy, but people are spraying canned goods with Lysol so hard to assess.

If you are social distancing and not at high risk, and thus catching virus is not a big worry that may help evaluate your risk tolerance.

Dude, it’s a virus, not a Terminator. Tennis between family members already living together is fine.

Basketball is a close contact sport and not a fair comparison.

Stupid DC government for doing that. I play tennis @churchill HS in Potomac with my sons and daughters.

The tennis courts around here have all been locked up. Chain, lock.

Good lord I didn't even want to play or get in contact, just run laps around the lines when the court was empty.

They chain locked my tennis courts too. Will have to find new ones for DH and dd to play on tomorrow.

I saw several tennis matches and a bunch of kids playing at our tennis courts yesterday, so apparently it’s ok?

Received an email this morning about the closures. Blame your ignorant neighbors for why we can't be trusted to practice social distancing.

They closed the county tennis courts and parks in the county I live in, in metro Atlanta.

It's not the social distancing in tennis. It's that you're sharing the same balls and you are playing with balls that your opponent(s) have played with after they mopped the sweat off their brows, hands, etc. Or maybe they are just asymptomatic carriers. There is a risk of contagion playing tennis and that's why they locked up the municipal courts!!

I'm only playing with my family members, so it shouldn't be an issue.
