Is it a jerk move to give notice to our daycare at this point?

But I could use the money to pay someone to watch my kids while I work, which would be SO much easier.

This is me. Meant to add that I will decide next week - that’s when our state (MD and MCPS) will have to decide next steps and hopefully give more information.

How much notice time do these schools need? 30days 60 days? Do they make exceptions in times like these? Also I would wait until this coming week to make decision because news is escalating and drumpf might enact shelter in place on a national level

OP is probably a trump hater but does not think we should all pitch in to help our vital community services. Hypocrite

No, not a jerk move at all. You don't need the services, and you're willing to gamble on a new spot later. Totally fine.

I would question however, if the things you want to do later will have spots available?

The contract says she can cancel with a 30 day notice. That is what she is doing.

I'm about to pull my kid. She is starting K in the Fall and we already planned on camps this summer. I will give 4 weeks notice and then hire a part time sitter until camps (hopefully) start.

The contract also says that they will provide care. They are not. I get why, but don’t act like OP was the first to break the contract.

While we fear people pulling, we completely understand.

We are in a church preschool and are about to withdraw from the school with a 30-day notice. This way, the school gets tuition for March and April even though we are not there but we will get the May tuition back. DC will start K this coming fall.
