If you get brads (link below), that can be used for wheels or steering wheels that turn when creating cars out of cardboard boxes. If you also have them paint the cars, the activity goes for longer!
We collect found objects or natural products and make collages/sculptures using glue and string. Part of the activity is collecting things. You can collect empty water bottles to make projects like cars. Collect extra bottle caps for the wheels, glue 2 straws (cut to length) to one side of the bottle, and use a wooden skewer as the axle through the straw. Hot glue the caps to either side. They can use all sorts of things to decorate their cars. We use cardboard boxes or wooden planks laid down the stairs to make the track for the cars. Any activity that has multiple steps is good - like designing the project, collecting materials, building, playing. Buy yourself a hot glue gun and lots of sticks if you don't have one already. Swing through the Dollar Tree (or similar) for more craft supplies/ideas. Popsicle sticks/craft sticks can be used for building many projects. Rainbow loom is lots of fun (making bracelets out of the little rubber bands). Get a few things of yarn and they can make bracelets (ideas below). While more of a Christmas thing - salt dough ornaments are a lot of fun. I have nothing good to adhere, we are stocked up on slime supplies. But you’re reminded me of a phone call I got when I was 22 or 23 years old. Apparently the vacuum cleaner had gotten clogged so my mom had to open it up and found pearler beads. Not the source of the clog but at least 12 years old. |
