| I honestly have never worried about and tried to measure or monitor mpg. Maybe I'm fortunate to have the financial means to do so - but I've never understood the obsession over mpg other than the environmental concerns |
If you suddenly start getting much worse gas mileage it can be an indicator that something is going wrong with your car (in my experience oxygen sensors, which are like $20 to replace but if they don't get replaced can cause your catalytic converter to crap out, which is a much more expensive problem and can send your entire electrical system FUBAR). It's the vehicle equivalent of getting a $500 water bill - the problem doesn't need to be that you don't have $500, it's figuring out and fixing what's causing your house to suddenly use so much more water. But also, yes: the environment matters. |

I get 30-31 in my Honda CR-V. All the time.
Love it. |
forgot to say that it is not a hybrid. |
also forgot to say that it is about 50% city and 50% highway. So, a true picture of mileage. |

13 average in my truck. It will get 18-20 on the freeway, which isn't so bad, it's the around town stuff and when I tow a trailer that kills it, gets around 7-9 mpg towing.
On the other hand, I commute with a motorcycle 2-3 days a week, and get ~45 mpg on that. |
| My Volt is showing 92.4 |
| 18ish (depending on when I commute and if I have any highway miles) in my Wrangler. I consider that not bad. |
| Getting about 22MPG in my large-ish Mercedes. I'm okay with it. |
