5. Mary McLeod

Bethune Brookland or 16th St? Either way, I think that's where you'll be.

16th street. FWIW, I think we either get an OK number and end up at Appletree or Mary McLeod, or we get a terrible number and end up at daycare. (We also applied for private schools, but not feeling optimistic about that either!)

You'll match at Burroughs and snap up an aftercare spot, but then spend the summer wondering if you should have ranked Langdon higher. Most of your wait list numbers will look hopeless, but you'll get a surprise offer from LAMB South Dakota after school starts when other Ward 5 parents decide they can't deal with the move to Kingsbury.

Early Action folks will knock you out of the running for Burroughs in the initial lottery. You will get a seat over the summer.

Well we’d have to decline because of no aftercare at that point... so Langdon it is!

You'll match at Bethune 16th and get a wait list offer from Appletree in early June. But the swing space means CHML will churn through its list, and that's where you'll end up.

I predict a phenomenal draw for your PK3 kid. You'll match at MV8 with promising wait list numbers at Stokes, LAMB, and ITS. The ITS wait list won't budge, unfortunately, but you'll get a June offer at LAMB and an August one at Stokes.

You can always add more schools post-lottery.

You'll match at Bunker Hill with a very low double-digit waitlist number at MV8. You'll watch your number slowly creep up over the summer and finally get a call a week after school starts. You'll agonize during the 24 hours you have to decide, decide to go with MV8, which will pull the sibling up to spot #1 for MV8 and miraculously get a call for sibling in early October.

My guess is you get Peabody, and end up getting a summer waitlist offer from Two Rivers Young

I guess Appletree for you. I am also so perplexed...if you care about bilingual and are willing to commute for it, why not Tyler and Houston Spanish and the other DCI feeders?

Basically, it was DW’s academic preferences, followed by DH’s commuting preferences. So a compromise. I agree it doesn’t really make sense, but that’s what we came up with.

You'll match at Lee and have a wait list number in the low teens for Peabody. You won't quite make it into Peabody, alas, but you will get a surprise September offer for AppleTree Lincoln Park.

Just be aware you'd have to re-add Langdon post-lottery if this scenario comes true! I imagine as IB you can still get in though, to the traditional program.

You bring up a good point that I want to clarify- if I accept a seat at Langdon, and am offered a seat at Burroughs but decline because there is no aftercare availability, would I have to re-enroll at Langdon? I thought you can decline offers from waitlists. I wouldn’t accept a seat somewhere else unless I had an aftercare slot.

Langdon IB

You’ll either match at Calle 8, or Burroughs!

I don’t think Calle Ocho. They are reducing the number of PreK classes next year.
