A Jetta GLI that would be fun to drive would be about 29K, plus it's expensive to fix.

This is 19k because they cannot sell for more. And if it's 2019, then it is "used", as in someone has been driving it, regardless of what the dealer calls it.

If you are in that price range, the best choice is almost ALWAYS a Japanese-made vehicle and a sedan (assuming you do not have 3+ kids).

According to almost every firm that collects empirical reliability data they are among the worst. You're an adult, if you want to buy a crap car that's your prerogative.

Chevy Cruz Diesel has HIGHEST MPG of any non-electric car made.

48 MPG - some folks have gotten in the 52 mpg range in car

The Cruz was discontinued last year and some great bargains on

My daughter has a 2017 Chevy Cruz she drives and it is gas and she gets 35 mpg on regular roads and 40-42 on highway. I actually borrowed it last year and drove from NY to DC and back on a full tank and had enough left over to run errands for a few days. On a college tour made it to Syracuse in car from DC on one tank and stopped for gas on way back. That is crazy. I have an SUV but on college tours have taken the Cruz as still under warranty and MPG is crazy for a car that seats five with a good trunk. My wife borrows it too as apple car play and mpg as she has a large truck
