WOTP 2nd Grade options

fwiw, we're in Brookland and lotteried into Key for 2nd grade last year, by luck and movement on the waiting list. (Aftercare is an issue, as it's really limited.)
It feeds Hardy (not Deal) and then Wilson, but I have to say that I never thought we'd consider Hardy, and now we're considering it strongly. Smaller than Deal, good principal. lots of IB kids moving up through the elementary schools and into the middle school.
So that's to say you might open up your list to schools that track through Hardy.
Friends at Shepherd are quite happy with the school, but I'm not sure whether there are traditionally OOB openings.

That's quite a commute! Must be what, 45 minutes each way? And then getting between the school and work...or do you work in Georgetown or something that makes it more doable?

Key and H-A waitlists both moved big time last year. How can you never think you would consider Hardy, but live in Brookland? Why?
