Algebra in 7tb - why? Whats the big deal?

DD got a 99. No prep or outside math classes. She really likes math and seems to get it quickly. BUT we are still not sure yet if Algebra 1 will be a good fit or not. I definitely would not try to prep a kid to put a thumb on that scale - I think that does not set kids up for success in math.

Also, some kids may not be emotionally mature enough to fully grasp the relationship between high school grades and college admissions. Algebra I grades go on a high school transcript.

In FCPS, 8th graders can take Algebra I Honors, regular Algebra I, or Math 8 (which is pre-algebra).
