+1 DD got a 99. No prep or outside math classes. She really likes math and seems to get it quickly. BUT we are still not sure yet if Algebra 1 will be a good fit or not. I definitely would not try to prep a kid to put a thumb on that scale - I think that does not set kids up for success in math. |
Also, some kids may not be emotionally mature enough to fully grasp the relationship between high school grades and college admissions. Algebra I grades go on a high school transcript.

In FCPS, 8th graders can take Algebra I Honors, regular Algebra I, or Math 8 (which is pre-algebra). |
