Question for anyone...My kid is 11 and in sixth grade and had a long term sub and just hasn’t really mastered the material. I’m not sure if they even covered the actual curriculum or if it was done poorly or if it’s my kid, but he’s done fine in the past with math. Not advanced, but he got it. I have no math skills or ability to teach him myself, and I don’t have a partner who can, but I don’t want him to be behind going into seventh. What can I do to help him get up to speed if private tutoring isn’t an option?

It comes down to how much we pay teachers.

I would love to teach math.... I love math it excites me and I am a very good teacher.

But I am not teaching for $70k/ year.

When I got my masters in teaching my current boss gave me a raise to $110k when I was 28 years old. (I’m now 50)

Now I make $100/ hr tutoring SAT prep for fun.

Show me the money!

Pick up a 6th grade textbook and go through it 30 minutes a day. There is no other way around. 6th grade math is not hard yet.
