To clarify, this is the number I'd calculate for the adult pizzas, figuring 1-2 adults per kid. |
OP why not just stick to snack foods during snack time? I hate it when parties try to serve dinner during random times.
The worst one by far was pizza served at 10 am. It makes no sense. |
There will be at least 25 adults. One extra is not enough. |
Did you not read? pizza comes with the party package and she cannot bring outside snacks. It's weird that you hate food being offered at a party. Just don't eat it. |
This is OP. The party package includes pizza for the kids regardless of the time slot. The venue does not allow outside food and does not sell veggie platters or chips and dip. If I want to feed parents, it’s pizza or nothing (except cake, which I will bring enough for all). |
Thanks for the thoughts so far and please keep them coming! I will check in again later.

I would not get pizza for the adults. If an adult can't go 2 hours without eating they have issues. Especially when there's cake for everyone.
Plus, I guarantee some kids will barely eat / eat 1 slice so you'll likely have leftovers from the "kid" pizzas in case some parent just can't handle forgoing a constant stream of calories. |
Just get one more pizza than you think you’ll need for the kids. This way you’ll have a buffer if the kids are extra hungry or if an adult wants some too. DCUM cannot think rationally about any issue related to kid parties. I’d be cautious about taking advice from here. |
I would get a few extra pizza's. You can probably order more but I agree parents will eat it if it is there. All the parties we've had the parents all ate. |
If it's there the parents will probably eat it. If it's not there and a parent goes to grab a slice you're in an awkward position of having to say sorry there's not enough. It definitely seems worth the $18 to buy an extra pizza, maybe 2.
I'm sure it's not high quality, but you can pack it up or ask parents to take some home at the end of the event, and they probably will. It's too bad you can't have other snacks, this is a tough call. In general though, although I CAN and usually DO go 2 hours without eating between meals, if I'm at a kids party and my kid is eating pizza, I'm going to take a few bites as well. |
+1. I never expect to eat anything at a kids' party. It is for them. |
My 6yo loved bowling. As to the pizza, get a couple extra. Some parents won't want any, but a few will have a slice. You can always order more, I'm sure. |
Then get 2 or 3 extra. Basically, how many extra pizzas is it worth for you to not stress out? Some will eat and some won't, but it's mid afternoon so more likely a snack . It seems weird to me that the event place won't make more the day of if you need more. |
My DS' Kinder or 1st grade party was at a bowling alley. They put up bumpers, kids loved it.
I always order extra pizzas. The moms don't eat. I never learn my lesson. I have strong armed locations like this to let me bring in a veggie tray/cheese & cracker tray more than once because adults don't like bowling alley/laser tag/trampoline center pizza. I can't remember a time they ended up saying no. Try to push back if you're really worried about food for parents but also worried about them not eating alley pizza. When I say strong armed, I mean picking up the phone and talking to the party manager, not sending an email. It's easy to say no to an email. |
You would think so. At the last kid party I gave, I ran out of pizza because of adults gobbling it up. Most waited until every kid got a slice, which is perfectly fine, but a few grabbed two! slices before the kids were finished being served. |
