Considering another pregnancy after pph

Ask your doctor or midwife:
1. How do they decide if you are at risk? Do they have a hemorrhage score? What precautions do they take if you are high risk?
2. Post partum hemorrhage cart
3. Massive transfusion capability
4. Access to interventional radiology
5. Icu
6. Do they estimate your blood loss or do a quantative blood loss analysis?

I hope this helps you.
6.

Helpful. In your research is GW prepared?

Related to PP, I looked for hospitals that are designated a Level 1 Trauma Center. In DC those are WHC, GW, Howard, and Children's. Obviously GW and WHC are the two options for labor and delivery, and WHC was much closer to our house.

I’m not a POC but I was worried about PPH and maternal mortality. I asked the WHC midwives these questions and felt very reassured by the responses. They do, for example, weigh pads for blood loss (not just eyeball).

I hemorrhages during both of my deliveries. First baby was vaginal and I gave birth at Inova Alexandria. Second baby was csection and delivered at Inova fairfax. Positive experience at both. Staff at Alexandria saved my life with first baby!
