how much airplane noise is there? I know it really depends on flight patterns .

I've lived in Stone Ridge for the past 15 years. And have noticed an increase in airplane noise . Especially in the early mornings and evenings . Also on weekends

It provides a (delayed) feed from a noise sensor network at multiple locations in Loudoun, combined with aircraft flight data. You can see the decibels go up and down as planes go over. Obviously it shows flight paths as well, and for each flight when you hover your mouse over it, you see the flight number, aircraft type, origination/destination and its altitude. You can replay historical data as well, so you could look at things during the night.

Then you can google the decibel levels and see what they are comparable to, like this chart: https://www.industrialnoisecontrol.com/comparative-noise-examples.htm

NP here. I’ve looked at this one before as well. Keep in mind that there are a couple of different flight patterns that Dulles uses, so definitely make sure that you look at a couple of different days, to make sure that your location works under several different situations. Like another poster, I live in Ashburn Village and while I can sometimes hear planes, it normally isn’t noticeable, especially when inside. But there are some days where planes are louder than other days.
They fly in and out vertically from Ashburn to South Riding, visa versa. Changes direction daily. They added more flights and started going westward towards Aldi. If you are adverse to flight noises, don’t buy in these areas.

Look at https://www.flightradar24.com/51.47,0.46/6

Zoom into your area and you’ll see all airplanes and helicopters including their flight path.

How good your windows are matters for inside noise, airplanes leave a lot of air pollution.

If this is a concern please don’t move anywhere near an airport and then start complaining about it.
