Mystified by 5 yo poop

Try prunes. Two of my kids will eat the whole ones, one kid will only eat the baby food kind (I eat the baby food prunes, too, so I don’t find anything odd about offering it to a 5 yo). Do not present them as “food to eat to make you poop” just offer them with raisins or as an alternative to apple sauce.

Our doctor said to have them sit down about ten minutes after eating lunch and/or dinner. I’d try that instead of bedtime if you can. Bowels will be moving more because of the digestive reflexes, and also bedtime is stressful enough without a battle royale over sitting on the potty.

Squatty potty is a good idea, too.

OP, has anyone used the word encopresis? That’s what we are talking about.

No, this isn't true!! It's entirely possible for him to go once a day and still be impacted. Like the PP said, google it!!
