Instrument in 6th grade

Not at TPMS. Beginner band means just that. 6th grade band means some experience playing an instrument OR can read music.

Op here. Thank you for all your responses. It’s a shame that expectations seem to be inconsistent from school to school but getting some lessons now seems to be a great idea!
