RMIB vs. Poolesville Global

Anonymous
OP here...I'd also like to know if the makeup work can be stressful and if kids have to go in during lunch to make up quizzes. DD doesn't really like makeup work because she finds it a little stressful, so just wondering if it's ever a problem.

Global teachers quite a few came from other MCPS schools and are not that good.

Poolesville is in the middle of no where. Does your DD want to travel that much?

Student environment, nothing like RM. Base population is quite insular. Conservative leaning in not a good way.

College acceptances are not awesome from there and kids are not as prepared.

Poolesville HS is #1 in MD
They have no problem with college acceptance.
Most magnet kids get full ride at UMCP.

Wrong

USNews ranking Poolesville Magnet #256
Yes,they have a problem with college acceptances if looking to go anywhere outside of Maryland
No Magnet kids do not get a full ride at UMCP

? wouldn't she have to do that for even non magnet if she wants to keep her grades up? If she can't handle stress, then IMO, she should not join magnets. It's a lot of work, and some kids can't handle the stress.

DP- USNEWS ranking was flawed. They failed to include data for many MoCo schools, including Poolesville .
These rankings are junk

When my kid graduated a few years ago, about 10 or so IB kids got full ride offer from UMD (including my kid). So, it's not bad.

OP Parent with GE kid here. Making up work hasn't been a problem for my disorganized child which has been a shock. I'm not sure how they do it but they seem to train the kids.

When my DD was accepted I was told to follow what she wanted to do. I think that's really the best advice. All the magnet programs are special!

Global Ecology is a great program. You can increase the difficulty by testing into either of the two SMACS math tracks and by taking as many AP classes as you'd like. Our GE kid ended up in SMACS math and took 13 APs.

RMIB hands down …the teaching is better. Global teachers are subpar and it’s all about nonsense and you miss so many days for the “field trips”
