OP, your husband should sit down with his HR department and ask that they explain how they administer FMLA. He should also ask for a copy of their policy (they are required to have one). Keep in mind that with DC’s paid family leave to kick in this summer, the paid provisions of their policy is likely to be updated before he is eligible for the leave.
